OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning)
Thornden Wood Primary School is just starting out on the OPAL Play journey. The Outdoor Play and Learning approach will help us to make playgrounds even better for our students.
We will be transforming our play spaces to include outdoor swings, sand pits, den building, water and mud kitchens and much more.
Nearly 20% of the children's school day is spent at play and for this reason, we believe that they should have access to high quality play opportunities, leading them to develop their resilience, grit and social relationships through play.
We will be working closely with parents and the wider community who may be able to support us with time, resources and skills to make our play spaces come alive for the children. If you are able to offer help - please contact Mrs Wilson via the school office.
